Planning the Perfect Bachelorette Party

By: Sorority Kitten

A Bachelorette party (or Hen Party if you’re from across the pond) requires the perfect balance of Sass and Class. So let’s start planning

1 – Your Bride.

What type of girl is she? Is she Sugar or Spice? Make sure to tailor your event to the bride. The events that get the best reviews are the ones where everyone had fun.

2 – Guest List.

Keep your event on the smaller side. Look to include all of the bridesmaids, and her best friends. Only include her co-workers if she agrees first. Remember that she might not want her colleagues to see her drinking.

3 – Themes.

Let your imagination run wild! A well executed party has a strong theme, and the theme is carried throughout. Remember – don’t be shy. The whole idea is to have everyone’s eyes on you! Here are some ideas of parties that have been successful in past:

-         18 Holes. Have all your girls dress up in sexy golf wear, and go to 18 different bars for 18 different shots.

-         1980s. Or any era! Dress your bride in the bridal dress of the era. For 1980s – think Madonna! Have all the girls attending dress for the decade. For the more adventurous, see if all the bridesmaids can find bridesmaids dresses from the 80s to match the bride.

-         Devil’s Angels. Have all the girls attending dress like angels, and dress your bride like a sexy little devil. Another variation is to dress the bride as an angel, and have all the girls wear T-Shirts that say the bride’s name, eg “Amanda’s Angels”.

-         Moulin Rouge. Grab the movie from 2001, and allow yourself to get inspired! When getting your costumes together, think: corsets, big eye lashes, thigh highes and short petticoats. What girls wouldn’t love to dress like French Courtesan?

-         Wig Out! Most people remember this one from the movie: “40 Year Old Virgin”, but Wigging Out is a fabulous and time-tested theme. Have all of your girls don wild and ridiculous wigs for the occasion.

-         Ante Up! Most of us can agree that marriage is a gamble, so why not have a casino theme?

-         Victorian Tea Party. If your bride is a little more Sugar than Spice – consider a tea party. There’s no reason why you can’t drinking Long Island Ice Tea! Also, you can take the theme to the next level and have everyone dress in their sexiest Tea Attire.

-

4 – Food.

Avoid planning your event to start over the dinner hour. This will get you off the hook for a meal, and allow you to provide snacks and treats that suit your theme. Do you want cookies shaped like poker chips – or maybe something a little naughtier?

5 – Music and Decorations.

Have some fun, and do a little research. Find things that you know would support your theme, and entertain your friends. Your choices don’t have to be expensive, but they should support the central idea. For music – go with your gut. If your friends like club hits, that won’t change if they’re dressed like Angels!

6 – Budget.

You don’t have to foot the entire bill yourself! This is a party where the costs to host should be shared amongst the bridal party, and the costs for the individual drinks, and costumes should be paid by the attendees. If you’re planning a complicated party, it might be easier to budget the entire event, and then divide by the number of girls attending. Most girls won’t mind contributing a set amount, as long as they know what they’re getting.

7 – Location.

Whether you plan on starting somewhere and then heading out to another venue or staying in the entire night, choose a location that is convenient and cost effective. Also – keep in mind that most Bachelorette parties include alcohol. Are there hotels nearby, or can you provide a place for your out of town guests to lay down a sleeping bag?

8 – Transportation.

Two words: Designated Driver. Be it a cab, a limo or a sober friend – be sure that no one will be drinking and driving.

9 – No Strippers.

Sass and class, ladies!! Strippers are an expensive and uncomfortable addition to any mix. The Bachelorette party is an event for a bride to relax with her best friends. I promise you that your money is best spent elsewhere.

10 – Have fun.

Be creative, and let your imagination run wild. Once the party begins, allow yourself to have fun.

Enjoy your event, you worked hard for it. And remember – after a party like this be prepared to be asked to be someone else’s bridesmaid in the very near future!

This is a great idea. My Son will be getting married soon. My new daughter-in-law loves Halloween almost as much as I do, I have suggested this for her bachelorette party, and her Maid-of-Horror, (LOL) loves the idea. Also great just for a fun party!
