Any suggestions for preserving carved pumpkins?

I saw someone suggest w d 40 on here. Ive also heard of dipping them in something. I am just wondering what is best. I like to carve pumpkins i usually like to have 4-6 carved pumpkins and by myself that can be hard to accomplish.

Perhaps freezing them or dipping them in wax?

Rub petroleum jelly or vegetable oil on all of the inside walls and carved sections  of your pumpkin/jack-o-lantern.  Might want to use a cloth with the jelly or oil on it to rub it on the insides as best you can.  This will help to seal in the moisture of the pumpkin, and helping it to retain its shape - and will be more effective in delaying or preventing decay and mold.   At least it should last a little longer through the holiday.

Normally mine last only 3 to 5 days, it would be nice for a week.
