Do you give candy to people even if they don't dress up?

     I tend to give less.

If it's a little kid without a costume, or with very little costuming effects, then I assume he/she didn't have any help from the parental units, so I'm still generous.  Older kids without costumes get small, cheap candy!

Especially high schoolers who just wear their letterman jackets and a mask. I don't even answer the door.

If it's a teenager, then no. Also, I can't stand the moms who come up with their children and they have a bag for themselves, but they are not dressed up.  I usually don't give them anything, or only 1 piece.

i dont give any unless they make up a story as to why they arent wearing a costume, or saying that is their costume and they make up a story as to what they are.

Only if they are taking little ones out. I can't stand those teenagers who go from door to door in there street clothes and expect you to give them candy.

That can be funny.  I had a kid explain he was really in the fourth grade but his costume was "A Fifth Grader."

nope. you have to be in a costume. i had a teenager come up to the door one year with just socks on his years and said he was a dog. i told him i was a cat person and shut the door.

I totally agree with TybeeSherri though I have never really had any trick or treaters before I am sure that is something that I would do.

If we actually got trick or treaters...

I'd probably give them something for just coming out, but not as much as people in costumes. Why reward people who don't get into the spirit?

Love the response to the kid dressed up as a dog. I could never think of something to say that quickly!

Pretty much anyone any age who says the magic words "Trick-Or-Treat" gets a can of orange soda at our house.  Most of kids and teens that come Trick-Or-Treating to our house are usually dressed in some kind of costume, so we never really have a problem.  However, sometimes when parents (who are not in costume at all) see us handing out soda they suddenly perk up and expect one too.  I even had this one Mom once ask me if we had anything diet...the nerve of some people!  I'll keep it short and sweet and simply tell such adults that the treats are only for those in costume.

I like the soda idea, thats cute.

We had a roundtable last night and we decided those without costumes should get canned vegetables though today I'm leaning towards ramen noodles.

Vegetables...I like it.  Canned Lima Beans for those not is costume!  :-)   Although the ramen noodles might be less expensive.

People can be so demanding!  It reminded me of a story.....I saw 2 cars pulled over on a 2 lane highway....a minor accident....lots of people standing around....cops, kids, adults....on a blazing hot day.   I had a cooler with ice and a dozen cans of Coke in my car, because I was coming home from a party.  So I pulled over and gave them the Cokes and one of the moms asked me if I had a diet Coke!   sheesh!
