    Re: 1st Birthday party

Stay home and have a small party - stick to your budget!

Your daughter will not remember her first birthday anyway,

but in the moment you can make sure she has a fun time without overdoing it.

Plus a few pictures to look back on later are always nice.

If you're going to have a lot of guests and/or other children there, you can still have a nice time.   How about suggesting a potluck and everyone brings something to pass or share?    Hot Dish - Salad - Dessert - Paper Plates - Napkins, Plastic Utensils etc.    Nothing wrong with having people chip in for a celebration!

throwing the party at home would be better, and take lots of pictures so that when she grows up, she can see them

Stay home and invite only your closest friends and family.  Your daughter won't remember who was there and who wasn't....have finger foods, or do a BBQ for everyone....very inexpensive, but your daughter will have a 1st b-day party. Good Luck

Get some close friends or family members.
Bake a cake and let her have a little slice that she can play with.
Keep it nice and small and video tape it.

My son turns one in February, and I plan to stay home and have a party.  For the money you spend for a 2 hour party "renting" a room at someplace, you could have all the food, decorations, a party outfit, and some presents for the birthday girl for an all night shindig at your house.

Yeah, I don't think there's a lot of point having anything much for a first birthday - it's not like they're going to remember it. A small home celebration is the best way to go.

Yeah, that reminds me of a really adorable photo I saw on one of the costume reviews for the Pretty Pink Princess costume. In the photo the mother is dressed as Princess Peach and she's holding her baby who's dressed as Mario, it's the cutest thing I've ever seen! Check it out, it's the only photo for the latest review on this page:

THAT IS TOO CUTE!!  I was trying to do a matching outfit with my son, but I bought the goldilocks costume (as you see from the avatar, he was a bear) and it was too short to go trick or treating with the kiddo.

Haha, that's cool. Yeah, it can be hard to match with kids. Your son makes a really adorable bear :)

    Re: 1st Birthday party

Have the party at home. It will be better for your daughter to be in a familiar environment. You don't have to go overboard with decorations and food. People won't expect too much for a one year olds party. You don't need any games or activities or favors to give to guests. It will help keep the money required low.

Remember to take lots of photos, she won't remember it but she'll see the photos which will tell her how much you care. Don't wait until your child is old enough to remember to do things with them, you miss out on so much. That's why we take pictures of what we did.

Remember to celebrate not just her birthday but the fact that you survived the year!
