I am a fake girl myself.

Which type of Christmas Tree is better? Fake or Real?

I don't like real trees. I had a real tree 1 year. I was vacuuming up pine needles for @ least 6 months later.

Its over...and I miss it already.

Re: The Ultimate Debate: Christmas Tree

I go with fake for a couple of reasons.

    1. Real trees require a lot of watering and maitenance (cleaning up needles)

    2. Real trees tend to dry up and can be flammable

    3. Fake trees require a one-time investment and can last 10 years or more as opposed to buying a new tree every year.

    4. Real trees have to be bought in late November/early December to last until the season whereas you can put a fake tree up at any time.

    5. I'm not a big fan of the pine smell (or any sap that might exist in the tree).

    6. You have to buy a different tree stand for the real tree while one is built onto the fake tree.

Now, some fake trees look awful and to me if I am making a one time, long term investment I get the trees with the real, life-like needles... rounded tips rather than flat bristles that look nothing like the real thing. Yes they run about $200 (more if you get a pre-lit one) but they're worth the investment.

I agree with most of the stuff that MessiahRp said. My mom has always had a fake tree that she decorated then we always got a real tree that we decorated together with all our homemade decorations. When we moved we never got another real one. Now that I'm older I definately realize that the expense and maintnence of a real tree is just now worth it.

Oh yes I love the fake ones you can have them up for ages and they look great also they are great value as the last for a very long time. I have changes the decoration colour scheme a couple of times to match my house! Its blue and silver now.Very few people here in Australia have real trees as our climate doesn't grow those type of pine trees anyway so we have these terrible scrawny native pines that look horrible! Hence 99% would have fake trees.

Re: The Ultimate Debate: Christmas Tree

No one would ever ship them in. But we dont have those lovely bushy trees that I see on TV as they grow in cool climates.
