About this line from that article:
"When it comes to Halloween costumes, boys can still be ninjas, doctors and mad scientists. A box of popcorn, even. Men can still be bananas or beer cans. ..."
Again, what happened to gender-neutral or unisex? As I asked earlier, is someone at a Halloween/party store going to tell me I can't buy a banana, hot dog or beer can costume because I'm a woman?
Have costume makers forgotten that women wear pants, too? They make women's pirate and referee costumes, for instance, with skirts. And we all know that women can be doctors and men can be nurses in real life, but costume makers only make doctor costumes for men and nurse costumes for women. And the nurse ones look old-fashioned, not like the scrub outfits worn today by all medical professionals. Though this one (found on another costume site) looks more like an actual uniform:
Again, it's pink, probably to discourage boys from wanting it? A girl or woman could easily buy and wear one of he doctor costumes aimed at men or boys (these tend to come in colors such as dark blue, green or grey), but all likelihood, most boys won't want to wear a nurse costume in pink
