Rub petroleum jelly or vegetable oil on all of the inside walls and carved sections of your pumpkin/jack-o-lantern. Might want to use a cloth with the jelly or oil on it to rub it on the insides as best you can. This will help to seal in the moisture of the pumpkin, and helping it to retain its shape...
